We have people on site to enroll patients into Maryland Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program. For those having difficulty with transportation, we will assist with bus tokens and sometimes taxi service so that patients can keep their appointments with their providers. Care management services are also provided, which include assistance with specialty referrals and follow-up. For uninsured patients needing medications for chronic conditions, we have access to free pharmaceuticals which are renewed in three month increments. We also assist as much as possible in reducing lab fee costs for the uninsured.

You can call for an appointment at any of our nine convenient locations. Walk-in service is available for urgent care, but calling ahead is advised.

People's Center of Excellence for Patience Qaulifying for the Ryan White Program

People's Community Health Centers, Inc. Provides comprehensive services to all patients that are documented as being eligible for resources under the Ryan White Care Act. These patients come from a population that is at risk for or living with HIV/AIDS.

Upon confirmation of diagnosis, Ryan White patients are referred to a case manager. Those patients who have urgent social service and medical needs at the time of referral meet with the case manager immediately to determine the extent of the resources needed. The case manager develops a care plan and coordinates all services identified in that plan.

Other Ryan White services include a co-morbidity coordinator who identifies and coordinates care for patients who qualify due to a dual diagnosis of HIV/AIDS with homelessness or HIV/AIDS with a substance abuse disorder. An important role for the coordinator is insuring adherence to the care plan developed by the case manager. There is a mental health counselor, a licensed clinical social worker and an infectious disease physician that assist in the assessment of care for Ryan White patients.

Counseling and testing services have been implemented to adapt to the needs of the patient. In addition to the standard drawing of blood by clinical staff, the Orasure throat swab test is available. Counselors certified through Maryland AIDS Administration perform pre-test and post-test counseling at our designated sites.

Outreach workers continue to develop forums that will encourage patients to seek the care and services needed to maintain a high quality of life. These forums include but are not limited to support groups and education seesions. In addition, they provide Ryan White patients with information on and assistance in qaulifying for pharmacy benefits such as Maryland Pharmacy Assistance and Maryland AIDS Drug Assistance Program (MADAP).
