People's is embarking on an
aggressive capital campaign to replace aging
equipment and to modernize its facilities.
The goal for renovation and repair is $800,000.00.
The goal for equipment is $200,000.00. Philanthropic
organizations, corporate giving programs
and individuals are being asked to support
this effort to insure that the surroundings
in which care is rendered to the economically
disadvantaged is structurally sound, well
appointed, and technologically sound.
Federal and state dollars
may only be used for operating expenses,
therefore, Peoples must rely on donations
from corporations, foundations, individuals,
and elected officials who may honor us with
a bond allocation or dedicated funds. People's
intends to pursue all of these means to
assure the integrity of our facilities and
to keep pace with technological advances.
A structural assessment of
People's original facility at 3028 Greenmount
Avenue has been performed. This building
has been determined to be structurally sound.
The challenge before us is to sure up all
outside walls due to water damage, repair
the roof, replace the heating/air conditioning
system, level the first floor for ADA compliance,
and renovate the interior to allow for better
air quality and more efficient patient flow.
All facilities need a new phone system,
more modern computer hardware and medical
equipment such as colposcopes, bone density
measurement devices, cardio-exercise equipment
and "child friendly space."
